Trumbull Academy
In 2021, Trumbull AYSO Region 186 and Trumbull United Soccer Club joined together to launch the Trumbull Soccer Academy.

The Trumbull Soccer Academy was created to offer a quality training soccer program, in collaboration with coaches from Tri-Town Soccer, for U7 and U8 players that want more than what is provided in the AYSO Core Rec program but are too young to start in the CJSA Travel Soccer program with Trumbull United.

The Trumbull Soccer Academy Structure:
The major difference between the Academy and the normal AYSO structure is there are no fixed teams under an Academy system. Instead, the Academy players train altogether but are divided into groups of players of the same ability, which normally aligns with players' actual age and also allows players to train at the most appropriate ability. It also means that an individual player can move between groups to best meet their needs as they develop.

Additionally, while there are no fixed teams, the Academy will form teams to enter tournaments/jamborees and play friendly games.

When is the Trumbull Soccer Academy season(s)?
When you register, both the Spring and Fall seasons are included. The Trumbull Soccer Academy will start the Fall season in September 2022 and run through November 2022 and the Spring season will run from April 2023 to June 2023.

What days are the trainings?
All Academy players train on the same days and at the same time. This past year, most of the sessions were on Fridays, however we are subject to the field availability of the Trumbull Parks & Rec Department.

Who can join the Trumbull Soccer Academy?
The Trumbull Soccer Academy consists of 100% Trumbull residents. Non-Trumbull residents are not allowed to participate.

The Trumbull Soccer Academy is offered to the U7 and U8 age groups. For the 2022/2023 season, the player groups are:
2016 Boys (U7) 2016 Girls (U7) 2015 Boys (U8) 2015 Girls (U8)

Q&A
How will practice sessions be run? – Children develop at different rates in sports and soccer is no different. Our training sessions will focus on setting each player up for success via training pods. Moving players between training pods help to create an optimal training environment where each individual can flourish.

How are teams formed for Tournaments? - From each group of players, the coaches choose which players will form the team to enter each tournament; players from other groups may also be selected to play on a particular team. U7 players do not have a tournament package but should there be the need to fill a roster, we will look at giving a U7 player who is excelling these opportunities.

How is equal playing time handled? – The equal playing time strictly applies to games attended (which includes friendly games). However, all players playing time will be monitored and we will strive to make playing time as balanced as possible throughout the playing year.

How far away are the tournaments? - The maximum one-way travel time for a tournament is 1 hour.

When will we know which tournaments we are attending? - The tournaments each group has selected to attend will be published at the start of the year. The roster for each team entering a tournament will be published approximately 4-6 weeks before the start date of the tournament.

Must players attend every training session? - No, but we expect each player to attend at least ¾ of the sessions offered per season. Also, the fewer sessions a player attends the slower their development, which puts at risk their selection for tournaments.

My player has already registered for Core, can they transfer to the Academy? - Yes, if you have already registered for Core and have also accepted the Academy invite.

Does the Academy Base Fee include a uniform? - Yes, the uniform fee is included in your Academy Base Fee. The Academy uniform kit is different than the AYSO Core Rec uniforms. Academy uniform kits are required if you are planning on playing in tournaments. Returning players can use the uniform from the previous year (let us know if you have a uniform and we will give you a coupon code for $50)
